The “Zerstörer” - The Outdoor Tool No. 1
The universal forest tool for all rough tasks in nature. Developed in collaboration with the well-known survival specialist Stefan Hinkelmann from Survival Deutschland. Our “Zerstörer” is mainly used in the outdoor area. The knife is extremely robust and is therefore particularly suitable for rough work such as splitting or chopping. To be able to use the knife as often as possible, it is best to vary the handle position. Grip the knife far back with your index, middle and ring fingers and you have longer leverage and maximum force when chopping. All five fingers on the handle ensure optimal slip resistance in bad weather or long working hours. Held in front (with the index finger in the recess on the blade) you have a perfect balance and can carve even the finest feather sticks. Materials:
The “Zerstörer” gets its excellent properties from the extremely robust and edge holding carbon steel 1.2235 (not stainless). The blade has a hardness of approximately 60 HRC Rockwell. The blade grind combines the real Scandinavian grind (without micro-bevel) with a robust flat grind. The Scandinavian sharpening style ensures maximum sharpness and maneuverability. The blade can penetrate deeper into the wood and thick branches can be cut off with just one blow. The knife handle is made of the very robust and hardwearing composite material Micarta and is provided with a rock finish, so that the knife has a very good grip. The handle scales are glued (so that no moisture can enter) and riveted.
Care instructions:
Since the steel is a non-rusting material, a few tips should be followed in order to enjoy the blade for a long time. The knife should not be exposed to moisture or acids for a long period of time. It also NEVER belongs in the dishwasher. Aggressive cleaning additives and high-water temperatures would only damage the blade. After use, the knife must be cleaned by hand with lukewarm water and mild detergent and then dried thoroughly. If the blade is not used for a long time, you can preserve it with a few drops of acid-free oil. The so-called patina is characteristic of carbon steels. It forms after a short time. This is completely normal and not harmful to the blade. On the contrary, it even protects the knife blade from rust.
